DESCRIPTION

AI manages the noise so we don't have to.

From the series Consciousness in the Age of Algorithms

But what do we do with the quiet it returns to us?

This painting is for everyone who has wondered that.

The person who clears the inbox by 10am. The one who optimises everything and still feels something is missing. The one who secretly wants an afternoon that goes nowhere in particular.

A Slow Day is about what becomes possible when technology works, when it does its job well enough that a woman can sit with a book and not feel guilty, not feel behind, not feel the pull of the daily schedule.

That is the dream, isn't it?

Not to be free of the algorithm. Just to be left alone by it for one slow afternoon.

This is the quieter counterweight in the series. Not interrogating the machine, showing what the machine, at its best, might give back to us.

I must admit, my own work has reduced considerably thanks to AI. I now enjoy not only painting but expressing my thoughts around my paintings and life in general, and for that I feel genuinely grateful.

I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

It was August when I made this. Summer vibes. Peace within and outside.
